COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS – APRIL 28, 2020 UPDATE

April 28th, 2020

Dear Residents, Family, and Visitors,

As we approach some changes in the greater community, including the end of the stay-at-home orders in Kansas on May 3rd, we want to make everyone aware of how that will impact our operations at Santa Marta. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has not issued guidance for senior living communities to lift restrictions at this time; therefore, we will NOT be changing any of our current policies, which include restricting all visitors. We will continue to check with CMS as well as the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for information regarding senior living communities to begin lifting or easing restrictions. Rest assured, when this time comes, we will be sure to communicate this with all Residents and families.

In addition to this communication, the Executive Director will also be providing another town hall for Residents via our in-house channel, 990, on Thursday, April 30th at 1 p.m.

Santa Marta is currently following the below practices. These practices apply to the entire campus and will continue until further notice:

  • Visitors will not be permitted, with the exception of those in end-of-life situations or when a visitor is essential for the care of a Resident.
  • Any visitor who is permitted to enter the facility MUST enter through the main entrances and will be required to complete a screening that will include a questionnaire and having their temperature taken. They will also be required to wear a mask.
  • All essential Santa Marta staff members are required to complete a screening that will include a questionnaire and having their temperature taken. They will also be required to wear a mask.
  • We continue with no communal dining or activities and regularly reinforce the practice of social distancing with staff, Residents, and essential visitors when possible or practical.

Santa Marta continues to be dedicated to allowing families to communicate with their loved ones as much as possible. If you need assistance in communicating with your family member or loved one, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We are assisting Residents with phone calls, FaceTime, and videoconferencing.

Thank you all for helping us keep Santa Marta and our Residents safe. If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact the Santa Marta Management Team.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

The Santa Marta Team
