COVID-19 UPDATE | February 12, 2021

Friends and Family of Santa Marta,

This week was off to a great start on Monday as CVS administered second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to residents in assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing, as well as Santa Marta associates. We are eagerly awaiting second doses for residents in independent living courtesy of AuBurn Pharmacy on Wednesday, February 24, capping off immunizations for our entire community.

It’s also a pleasure to report that there are still no active cases of COVID-19 among residents communitywide.

Furthermore, this week’s testing for all healthcare team members identified no new positive cases. However, there are three previously identified positive cases among employees, all of whom are recovering at home. All affected are in our prayers and we wish them a speedy recovery.

Given the promising outlook in recent weeks, we continue to cautiously reintroduce previously suspended services and activities. While some small group activities have already began in our health center, indoor visitations in the area will officially start on Monday, February 15. If you’re interested in scheduling a visit, please contact Admissions Director Riley Mason at 913-323-7175. Indoor visitations and some small group activities continue in independent living as usual.

We are also expanding communal dining to accommodate more residents in our dining venues. This includes a special Valentine’s Day dinner in independent living slated for this evening. Small group dining in assisted living is scheduled to begin next week as well.

Safety protocols including masks, social distancing and no large gatherings will remain in place communitywide for the foreseeable future despite the ongoing lifting of some restrictions. This is per guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other health authorities.

Please contact our leadership team at updates@www.santamartaretirement.com with any questions. As usual, our weekly updates will also be shared on our website and Facebook page.

Hope you all have a safe and happy Valentine’s Day.

Thank you and God bless,

Chet Surmaczewicz

Executive Director
