Friends and Family of Santa Marta,
Our community is pleased to share that we had yet another week of no active cases of COVID-19 among residents communitywide. This continued positive trajectory is a blessing after months of uncertainty and we appreciate the unwavering support of our residents, staff and loved ones throughout the pandemic.
Unfortunately, one employee tested positive during this week’s testing for all healthcare team members. In addition to previously identified cases, there are now three staff members in total who are affected by the virus. We wish them all a speedy recovery as they recuperate at home.
Out of an abundance of caution considering the newly identified team member case, we will be testing all healthcare residents next week. Results will be shared in our next update. We are also temporarily suspending indoor visitation in our health center for two weeks. However, outdoor visitations for the health center will begin on Monday, February 22, given the expected warmer weather. If you’re interested in scheduling a visit, please connect with Admissions Director Riley Mason at 913-323-7175 during business hours from Monday to Friday.
Indoor visitations and some small group activities continue in independent living as usual. Some previously suspended services and activities are being cautiously reintroduced communitywide and we expect to open the assisted living dining room in a limited capacity soon.
As previously mentioned, safety protocols including masks, social distancing and no large gatherings will remain in place at Santa Marta for the foreseeable future despite the ongoing lifting of some restrictions. This is per guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other health authorities.
We are looking forward to residents in independent living receiving their second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday, February 24, courtesy of AuBurn Pharmacy. Residents in assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing, as well as Santa Marta associates, have previously been offered both doses. An additional vaccine clinic for healthcare is scheduled for Monday, March 1, which will cap off immunizations for our entire community.
Thank you and God bless,
