COVID-19 UPDATE | MARCH 5, 2021

Friends and Family of Santa Marta,

As has been the case during the past few weeks, we’re pleased to report that the beginning of March is off to a promising start.

There are still no positive cases of COVID-19 among residents communitywide. Furthermore, no active cases were uncovered among healthcare team members during this week’s comprehensive testing. There is only one previously identified case among employees, and we thankfully expect the impacted individual to fully recover this weekend.

We’re also thrilled to share that the vaccine clinic for residents and staff in healthcare that took place on Monday went as smoothly as expected. The session capped off immunizations for our entire community. Residents in independent living, assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing, as well as all Santa Marta associates, have now been offered both doses on-site. Words can’t express how grateful we are to finally reach this milestone, which helps ensure the safety of everyone who lives and works at our community.

After a temporary hiatus, indoor visitation in our health center will resume on Monday, March 8. If you’re interested in scheduling a visit, please contact Admissions Director Riley Mason at 913-323-7175 between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

Indoor visitations and some small group activities continue in independent living as usual.

We expect to add more activities and visitation opportunities to our schedule in coming weeks. Specifics will be provided in future updates. However, safety protocols including masks, social distancing and no large gatherings will remain in place at Santa Marta for the foreseeable future despite the ongoing lifting of some restrictions. This is in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other health authorities.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to our leadership team at updates@www.santamartaretirement.com with any questions. Our weekly updates will also be shared on our website and Facebook page.

Thank you and God bless,

Chet Surmaczewicz

Executive Director
