COVID-19 UPDATE | OCTOBER 9, 2020

Friends and Family of Santa Marta,

We’re grateful to report yet another week of no active cases of COVID-19 among residents at our community. This follows comprehensive testing of all residents in healthcare on Monday. Despite the promising results, we remain steadfast in our adherence to precautionary measures to ensure everyone who lives at Santa Marta remains heathy and safe.

Proactive weekly testing of all healthcare staff is ongoing as well. Of the 198 tests administered this week, only one came back positive. Most results were negative with a few still pending. In total, there are six team members who are currently impacted by the virus. We extend our prayers and well wishes to them as they recover at home.

Last week, Johnson County released its latest guidance for resuming healthcare visitations at senior living communities. We are still outlining a plan for welcoming families and loved ones back to our campus and expect to have it finalized and approved by the county soon.

Please keep in mind that any newly identified cases of COVID-19 at Santa Marta will delay resuming visitations for 14 days to minimize risk of spreading the virus. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we actively work through this process. Any additional updates will be included in our weekly website and Facebook posts.

We continue to encourage window visits, video calls and social media to stay connected with your loved ones in the meantime. Outdoor visits for independent living are ongoing as usual.

Please direct any questions you may have to me and the rest of the Santa Marta leadership team at updates@www.santamartaretirement.com.

Thank you and God bless,

Chet Surmaczewicz
